Gusts of 90kph recorded in Mayo

GUSTS up to 91kph have been recorded in Mayo this afternoon.

As Storm Gareth sweeps by, the weather observatory in Claremorris recorded a wind speed high of 91kph at 3 p.m. Another gust of 87kph was recorded in Belmullet, with gusts of 89kph in Newport and 85kph at Knock airport.

The strongest gust so far in the country was recorded at Malin Head – 109kph.

A status orange wind warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo will remain in place until tomorrow at 9 a.m.
