Cian's on Bridge Street named Mayo's best restaurant

WESTPORT restaurant Cian's on Bridge Street was named best restaurant in Mayo at last night's Connaught regional Irish Restaurant Awards.

Held in the Radisson Blu in Sligo, awards were presented to the region's leading chefs, restaurants and pubs.

At the awards, Adrian Cummins, chief executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) said the awards continue to showcase the incredible food that is on offer in the cafes, pubs and restaurants of Ireland, as well as recognising the teams behind these establishments and the hard work and dedication that they put in.

With well over 80,000 nominations received from the public this year, the standard for the judging process was higher than ever.”

The Mayo winners came from all around the county and included the following:

Best Chef – Barry Ralph of House of Plates

Best Newcomer - This Must Be The Place

Best Hotel and Guesthouse Restaurant – George V Dining Room at Ashford Castle

Best Restaurant Manager – Eva Ivanova of Sage Restaurant

Best Customer Service – House of Plates

Best Café – Café Rua

Pub of the Year – V.J. Doherty’s

Best Wine Experience – Ashford Castle

Best Gastro Pub – Bar One

Best World Cuisine - Jalan Jalan

Best 'Free From' – Leafy Greens Café

Best Kids Size Me - The Cot & Cobble

Best Local Food Hero – John Clarke of Clarke’s Salmon Smokery

Best Emerging Irish Cuisine – An Port Mór Restaurant
