Passing of much-loved Mayo University Hospital nurse

THE death has occurred unexpectedly at Mayo University Hospital of Darren (better known as Monty) Mulligan, 4 The Willows, Springfield, Castlebar, and formerly of Bedfordshire, UK.

The deceased was dearly loved husband of the late Marie (née McAlpine), who died nine months ago, father of Thomas (Castlebar), Peter (Waterford) and Sinead (Castlebar) and grandad of Ryan, Lucas and Ellie.

He is brother of Tommy, John and Jackie, all in the UK, and is also survived by his daughter's partner Eizens, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and many friends.

Darren was 57 years of age and was a kind, caring and much-loved nurse. He worked as a nurse in the UK and also in Mayo University Hospital as a nurse in the accident and emergency department.

May his gentle soul rest in peace.

His remains will be reposing at the Kilcoyne Funeral Home, Thomas Street, Castlebar, on Thursday, from 6 p.m. with prayers at 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, on Friday morning at 11 a.m., followed by burial with his beloved wife Marie in the New Cemetery.
