Ivy growth is threatening trees

IVY is threatening the survival of many trees.

The issue was raised by Councillor Gerry Ginty who said ivy is 'sucking the lifeblood' from trees and causing them to fall prematurely.

In a debate on climate action at a meeting of Mayo County Council, he said if you look around you'll see where trees are being polluted with ivy. If something was done about it, it would be a help.

'Nip it in the bud,' he said.
