Busy Mayo roadway left without white lines

RESIDENTS along a busy Mayo roadway can't understand why the route has been left without white lines.

The main road between Castlebar and Turlough has no lines for a number of kilometres, much to the puzzlement of motorists.

A local election candidate, Ger Deere, said the matter was raised with him by a number of householders during a canvass of the area.

"They see it as an infringement of road safety standards. It has been left without lines for too long," he explained.

Resurfacing works were recently carried out on a section of the road close to Castlebar town, a stretch that had been extremely bumpy.

But it, too, has not had road markings put in place.
