Launch of Hospice Sunflower Days 2019

NEW volunteers are being asked to come on board and support local hospice services on Sunflower Days (June 7 and 8).

Speaking at this year's launch of National Sunflower Days in The Lodge at Ashford Castle, Martina Jennings, CEO of Mayo Roscommon Hospice, urged new volunteers to come on board.

She said: ”We are so lucky with the thousands of volunteers that give up their time each year and help us raise these vital funds. We are appealing for new volunteers to grow these numbers this year.

Our purpose built 14-bedroom hospice unit in Castlebar is near completion and we are so very proud that this was achievable completely through fundraising.

This service is going to dramatically change the lives of those patients and their families living with chronic illnesses.

We intend to go to tender for our eight-bed Roscommon hospice this year, with completion expected or January 2021.

We have come so far now and we need to keep the momentum going to keep providing the highest patient focused care that we are so proud of.

If you can spare an hour or two on June 7th or 8th and help us raise these funds we would be so grateful. Your support is the only way any of this is possible.”

Hospice Sunflower Days 2019 will take place on June 7 and 8. Over the two days, thousands of fantastic volunteers will be selling Sunflower Days products and taking donations in villages and towns across Mayo and Roscommon. As always, every euro that is raised locally, stays locally.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice need your support to ensure they can keep providing specialist palliative care across the two counties. You can support them by buying Sunflower Days items on the days, by donating to your local hospice, or by volunteering.
