Tally figures indicate a 2-1-1 outcome in Swinford area

FINAL tally figures in the four-seat Swinford electoral area indicate that the outcome will be Fianna Fáil (2), Fine Gael (1) and Sinn Féin (1).

Although the destination of transfers can't be predicted accurately, the odds favour the four outgoing councillors - Gerry Murray (SF), Michael Smyth (FF), Neil Cruise (FG) and John Caulfield (FF) retaining their seats.

Murray is set to top the poll on 1,875 with Smyth in second place on 1,615.

Cruise is placed third on 1,481 with Caulfield fourth on 1,273.

However, a big challenge is being mounted ny Swinford FG newcomer Tom Lavin on 1,108 while Aontú's Tommy Horan has registered a strong 638 return. 

The other candidate in the field, Sean Forkin (Independent), recieved 61 votes.
