Vandals destroy sick children's dreams

THE Share a Dream Foundation - the national children's charity that makes the dreams of sick children a reality – has been delivered a devastating blow this week.

On Tuesday (September 3) vandals broke into Share a Dream - Dreamland in Limerick, causing substantial damage and stealing funds they raised to make dreams come true for 15 children fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Every year Share a Dream help hundreds of Irish families, and many children from Mayo have had their dreams come true thanks to the Foundation and its supporters.

Now, Share a Dream have launched a national fundraising appeal for help.

As the GoFundMe appeals page explains: “With posters and photos everywhere in our centre detailing the work we do, what kind of vandals would smash in the front door knowing they are stealing the dreams of very sick children. We are totally devastated.

Because of the increasing demand on our services we are totally stretched and finding it very difficult to raise funds to help some 1,200 children each year as we receive no funding and rely totally on the wonderful support of community.

If you can help in anyway with fundraising, sponsorship or volunteering or in any way help us continue making dreams come true - please contact www.shareadream.ie or 061200080.”
