Mayo builders merchant shortlisted for two national awards

The Castlebar branch of Heiton Buckley has been shortlisted in two categories of the national Octabuild Builders Merchant Excellence Awards 2019.

The business has been shortlisted in the Connacht/Ulster Regional Award category and staff member Brendan Cassidy has been shortlisted in the Rising Star category.

There are also 28 nominations in contention for three regional and five category awards and 13 staff from builders merchants around the country shortlisted for the first time Rising Star Award.

Final judging for the the awards took place last month and the winners will be announced at an awards event in the Aviva Stadium, Dublin, on November 7.

Staff from the shortlisted merchants will be guests of the Octabuild members - Dulux, Glennon Brothers, Gyproc, Instantor, Irish Cement, Kingspan Insulation, Tegral Building Products and Wavin at the awards ceremony.

Heiton Buckley Castlebar has been at the heart of the community in Castlebar for over 40 years providing for all of the building and DIY needs of the people of Mayo and beyond.

Store manager Michael Kane said: "We are very pleased to be nominated for the Octabuild Connaught and Ulster Regional Award as we feel it is recognition for all the hard work and dedication of past and current colleagues here in Heiton Buckley.

Brendan Cassidy has worked with Heiton Buckley Castlebar for four years.

The Octabuild Awards, which have been acknowledging the best in the builders merchant trade for 35 years, have been revamped for 2019 with a renewed focus on excellence that reflect the modern builders merchant sector in terms of business management, customer service, sales and marketing, innovation, leadership, diversity, partnership and communication.
