The late James (Jimmy) Greaney, Swinford

East Mayo mourns passing of former businessman

THE death has taken place of James (Jimmy) Greaney, Chapel View House, Swinford.

He was a leading figure in the east Mayo retail sector and licensed trade for many years, having run a supermarket and public house in Swinford.

A native of Cahermorris, Annaghdown, Galway, his passing is widely mourned in the community at large.

Predecased by his wife Eileen (née Campbell), he is survived by his daughters Marian Irwin (Ennis) and Bernie Weever (Castlebar), sons Eugene (Swinford) and Seamus (Bushypark, Galway), daughters-in-law Deirdre and Elizabeth, sons-in-law Gerry and Michael, brother Patrick, grandchildren Barry, Shane, Jamie, Ellie, Graham, Scott, Darren, Eugene, Ronan, Amanda and Ailishe, great grandchildren, step grand-daughter Kate, brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, relatives and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered

The late Mr. Greaney was also predeceased by his brothers Bob, Michael, Tommy, Martin and Joe and sister Teresa.

His remains will be reposing at his home at Church View House, Swinford, this evening (Monday) from 4 to 8 p.m.

Requiem Mass takes place tomorrow (Tuesday) at 12 noon at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Swinford. with burial afterwards in Kilconduff Cemetery.
