TWO Mayo gardaì based in Co. Donegal are being honoured today for saving a woman from drowning last summer.

Garda Mark O'Sullivan, Brickens, Claremorris, and Garda Gerard Doyle, Swinford, performed their heroic act on June 19 last after rushing to Ballywhoriskey Pier on the Fanad coastline to rescue the woman from the water.

They are being feted for their bravery at Water Safety Ireland's annual national awards ceremony at UCD.

They are among the 11 recipients of 'Seiko Just in Time' accolades at an event that recognises the saving of 17 people from drowning in Ireland this year.
