'Positive reception' for Breaffy speed limit submission
THE ongoing campaign for a reduced speed limit in Breaffy, Castlebar, received a 'positive reception' when a Mayo delegation met with Transport Infrastructre Ireland (TII).
The village 'ticks all the boxes' under TII guidelines for a reduced speed limit, Councillor Cyril Burke told a meeting of Mayo County Council's roads committee.
TII have committed to coming back in five or six weeks' time after they have had another look at the situation.
A submission was given at the meeting with TII and Councillor Burke said it was 'heartening' to see TII had listened. At a previous meeting you could feel the resistance in the room, he said.
This time there had been, he thought, a more positive reception.
Councillor Burke thanked the community in Breaffy for their submission, which highlighted the guidelines.
“Hopefully we will have some news from TII in the short-term.”
