Christmas comes early for Grace

A MAYO girl has received a very welcome early Christmas present.

Grace O'Malley's wait for treatment with Sprinraza – a drug for SMA patients – is nearly over.

Her family have confirmed this morning that Grace, from Hollymount, is due to begin treatment in January.

Writing on their Friends of Grace Facebook page, they said: “We got the best news ever ....Santa came early to us. Grace is finally scheduled to start Spinraza in January 2020 pending bed availability in Temple Street Hospital.

“I just can’t describe how over the moon we are. We are so thankful to you for your support and prayers. We couldn’t have got through it all without every single one of you.

“We are looking forward to hopefully watching Grace start to grow stronger and stronger from next year on. We will keep you posted on her progress.

“Merry Christmas to you all and wishing you all a very healthy and happy new year. Lots & lots of love, Grace, Mark, Paul & Lorraine.”
