Progress being made on Murrisk water connection

PROGRESS is being made in relation to the Murrisk community water connection.

Minister Michael Ring has confirmed that meetings have taken place between Mayo County Council and Irish Water in relation to the delivery of the connection.

Following on from these negotiations, Mayo County Council secured approval from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government to procure engineering services to carry out an assessment of the proposed scheme and prepare a preliminary design report for the scheme.

It is expected that this will be completed in the next two to three months,” he said.

The project, when completed, will bring, for the first time, a piped water supply of high quality water - supplied by Irish Water - to the approximately 350 houses from Belclare to Kilsallagh.

The issue of clean water for Murrisk is something that I have worked on for quite some time and I was delighted when it was approved under the department's multi-annual rural water programme,” said Minister Ring.
