€65,000 in government support for flood mitigation works

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring, has confirmed that the government has allocated €65,326 to Mayo County Council for minor flood mitigation works in Bohola and Cloondaff/Glenhest.

In Bohola village, funding of €58,666 has been approved for the replacement of an existing steam culvert, installation of a field drainage culvert, maintenance/river cleaning, and associated works.

In Cloondaff/Glenhest, funding of €6,660 has been approved for vegetation clearance and wall repairs.

Minister Ring said: “This is great news for these communities. As recent weeks have shown, we need to be continually vigilant about the threat of flooding. This investment will serve these communities well in that regard. I urge Mayo County Council to ensure that this work is carried out without delay.”
