37 patients awaiting Covid-19 test results at Mayo hospital
A TOTAL of 37 patients are awaiting Covid-19 test results at Mayo University Hospital.
It is the fourth highest in the country, according to HSE figures measured at lunchtime last Wednesday.
The other hospitals with the largest number of patients waiting for test results are Limerick University Hospitalwith 52 patients; St Vincent's University Hospital with 43 and The Mater Hospital with 39.
The Connaught Telegraph reported on Tuesday that a plan was in place to ensure test results are forthcoming within a period of between 24 to 48 hours.
It followed an arrangement agreed with Letterkenny University Hospital to conduct Covid-19 analysis at their laboratory.
This pathway is expected to make the management of the virus more efficient going forward at the Castlebar facility.
