Castlebar mourns passing of widely respected personality

The death has occurred of Harry Jennings, Hawthorn, Golf Course Road, Castlebar.

He died peacefully at his residence earlier today.

A member of an old and respected Castlebar family, news of his passing has evoked an immense sense of loss in the community.

The deceased had a long association with Castlebar Golf Club and had been an accomplished exponent of the sport.

He worked in England for many years and opened a public house at Castle Street, Castlebar, on his return, a business in which he was involved for some time.

A good-natured and affable personality, he was held in high esteem by everyone who knew him.

Predeceased by his wife Bridie, sisters Bridie (Leonard) and Maureen (McDonald), brothers John and Tommie, he is very deeply regretted by his sons and daughters, Adrian (Bristol), Jackie (Hynes), Harry, Fiona (Browne, Australia), Nicola (Kilkelly) and Nigel, sons-in-law Colm, Declan and Raymond, daughters-in-law Zandra and Ruth, grandchildren Shane, Harry, Emma, Law, James, Ciara, Conor, Mia, Sara, Ryan and Alana, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom sympathy is tendered.

Requiem Mass take place tomorrow (Monday) at 11.30 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery.

Due to the HSE and government guidelines the funeral at all stages will be private for family only.
