Mayo community mourns passing of esteemed barrister
THE death has taken place after a long illness of Catherine Walsh-Sweeney, Leicin Village, Turlough, Castlebar, and formerly of Harmony Heights, Castlebar, and Keenagh.
The deceased had been a leading barrister on the western circuit for a number of years and news of her passing has evoked an immense sense of loss and sorrow in the legal profession and community at large.
She is very deeply regretted by her husband Aidan, daughter Kate, parents Kevin and Rita, sister Máire (San Francisco), brothers Jude, Kevin J., and John Peter (San Francisco), parents-in-law Patsy and Kay, sisters-in-law Dirika, Helen and Danielle, nephews, niece, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, neighbours and friends, to whom heartfelt sympathy is tendered.
Catherine's Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Castlebar.
Due to the HSE and government guidelines the funeral at all stages will be private for family only.
