Sharp rise in general bed vacancy rates at Mayo hospital

A sharp rise in the number of vacant general beds at Mayo University Hospital has been recorded.

The total was registered at 24 yesterday, an increase of 17 in the space of 24 hours.

The number of vacant critical care beds remains the same at four.

A total of 23 confirmed Covid-19 cases are being treated at the hospital, a drop of three, while eight suspected cases are receiving treatment, a decrease of two.

Two confirmed cases are in in the critical care unit.

The figures were recorded by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday.
