Coast Guard rescues distressed lamb that fell from Mayo cliff

Members of Achill Island Coast Guard have this evening rescued a lamb that had fallen from a cliff in Dooagh.

The organisation's cliff rescue team responded immediately to a call-out and two of the team's climbers descended the cliff-face by approximately 18 metres and rescued the animal.

A spokesperson said: "Thanks to the walkers who noticed the distressed lamb.

"They contacted the Coast Guard immediately and did not attempt to retrieve it themselves.

"If a member of the public sees someone, or even an animal in danger on a cliff, on the shore or in the sea, call 112 immediately and ask for the Coast Guard."
