Motorcyclist dies in west Mayo road tragedy

A man in his 30s has died following a road traffic accident in west Mayo.

He suffered fatal injuries when his motorcycle collided with a tractor on the N59 roadway between Newport and Mulranny at Ardagh.

The accident occurred at approximately 8.30 p.m. yesterday and the road remains closed to traffic while a technical examination takes place. Diversions are in place.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Mayo University Hospital.

The driver of the tractor escaped without injuries.
