Banking facilities should be provided in all post offices
BANKING facilities should be available in all post offices in Ireland.
A motion was passed at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council that, in all negotiations for the formation of government, all members of the Oireachtas commit to providing a mechanism for the inclusion of banking facilities at all post offices within the State within the next five years.
Proposing the motion, Councillor Neil Cruise commented on the huge role An Post had played in the national response to the Covid-19 crisis, from checking on old people, to delivering newspapers for free, and their postcards initiative.
He called on the council to write to all Oireachtas members that mechanisms be provided for banking facilities in post offices.
