Retired Garda Sergeant pays tribute to Colm Horkan, “one of the best friends I ever had”

On today's Liveline on RTÉ Radio One, retired Garda Sergeant John Hynes paid an emotional tribute to his deceased colleague and friend Detective Garda Colm Horkan who was killed overnight in Castlerea, County Roscommon.

Mr. Hynes told presenter Joe Duffy that Colm Horkan was "One of the best friends I ever had... It's heartbreaking... He was my right hand man, I relied on him heavily... He was a man who stood out in a million... He was the epitome of what it meant to be a guard in modern society."
