Plea issued over 'noisy' cars roaming around Mayo town

Concerns have been raised over 'noisy, souped-up cars' roaming around Castlebar.

An irate local resident contacted The Connaught Telegraph to express his concern and frustration over the matter.

He stated: "Noise levels have hit the roof and these cars speeding around the town Is very worrying as it could lead to accidents.

"I am pleading with the local gardaì to give the matter close attention.

"The owners of these cars take off their big exhausts for NCT tests and put them back on afterwards.

"These exhausts make the cars extremely loud and much noisier than what should be allowed in an urban centre, particularly at night as people are awoken from their beds due to the racket caused.

"It's time to call a halt to this type of activity once and for all."
