Mayo boxer presents €16,000 to frontline staff and Pieta House
Mayo boxer Ray Moylette has raised much needed funds for frontline staff in the county and Pieta House, preventing suicide and self harm.
The Islandeady sportsman did so through the very generous donations he received for his '1,000 push-ups in one hour' challenge.
The total amount raised was €16,640 and, after gofundme fees, a sum of €15,989.90 was remaining.
He stated: “I can't believe the response I got. Thanks you everybody from the bottom of my heart."
The breakdown is as follows:
Pieta House West: €8,000
Mayo University Hospital: €4,000
Western Care Association: €2,000
Sacred Heart Hospital: €2,000
Added Ray: “I want to sincerely thank the Off The Ball radio programme on Newstalk for giving me the best platform to raise awareness and build momentum for my challenge.
“I also thank Denise Mc for planting the idea, Ger Duffy, my "Tech guy", Dad for all the pictures and, of course, my wife Sharon for supporting me throughout and helping me through every obstacle along the way and, last but certainly not least, my son Colby-Ray who provided me with the motivation to keep me pushing right to the end.
“I hope everyone is staying safe and getting through this challenging time together.”
