Mayo boxer presents €16,000 to frontline staff and Pieta House

Mayo boxer Ray Moylette has raised much needed funds for frontline staff in the county and Pieta House, preventing suicide and self harm.

A cheque for €8,000 being presented to Pieta West fundraising co-ordinator Donna Burke.

The Islandeady sportsman did so through the very generous donations he received for his '1,000 push-ups in one hour' challenge.

The total amount raised was €16,640 and, after gofundme fees, a sum of €15,989.90 was remaining.

Western Care fundraising coordinator Teresa Ward, and Neil Toner, line manager, receiving a cheque also for €2,000 from the Moylette family.

He stated: “I can't believe the response I got. Thanks you everybody from the bottom of my heart."

The breakdown is as follows:

Pieta House West: €8,000

Mayo University Hospital: €4,000

Western Care Association: €2,000

Sacred Heart Hospital: €2,000

Added Ray: “I want to sincerely thank the Off The Ball radio programme on Newstalk for giving me the best platform to raise awareness and build momentum for my challenge.
