Mayo hospital is 40 days without a confirmed Covid case

Mayo University Hospital has reached day 40 without a confirmed Covid-19 case being treated at the facility.

That's according to statistics measured by the HSE at the Castlebar centre at 8 p.m. yesterday.

The last confirmed case at the centre was recorded on June 9.

The figures indicate there are four vacant critical care beds in the hospital, an increase of one in 24 hours.

The number of vacant general beds is 14, a rise of six.

Fears of a second wave of the virus in Mayo are very much allayed by the daily HSE statistics for the county.

It is also eight days since Mayo had a new confirmed case.
