Mayo's Ultra Cyclists getting on road again for charities

THE Mayo Ultra Cyclists, a group of like minded adventure cyclists who take on a charity cycling challenge every year, are getting ready to hit the road again.

Since 2016, the group have completed 4,823km over four different cycles in just 12 days while raising an incredible €88,000 for various local charities.

Sunday, August 16, will see them setting out on a 1,900km cycle through all of the 32 counties in just six days, starting in Mayo and cycling clockwise around Ireland. They will cover a staggering 320km per day.

The cycle will raise some much needed funds for three worthy causes - Mayo Roscommon Hospice, Down Syndrome Ireland West (for their house redevelopment project in Swinford), and Temple Street Hospital (in memory of 11-year-old James Moore, Monaghan).

Campaign organiser Alan Heaney from Swinford has set up a GoFundMe donation page where you can lend your support.

The event is self-financed so 100% of all money raised will go directly to the chosen causes.

Along the way they will be joined by many cyclists from the various clubs around Mayo and the different counties as they pass through.
