Plans for new Ladbrokes office turned down

PLANS by Ladbrokes to relocate their betting office in Castlebar have been rejected by council planners.

The company had sought permission for a change of use of a property on Ellison Street (pictured), which would facilitate a move from their Castle Street base.

The proposed new location is beside the Irish House on Ellison Street.

In documentation submitted to planners, the company said its existing Castle Street premises is no longer suitable for use as a licensed betting office.

If successful in receiving planning permission, it was proposed to de-license the existing premises and to apply for the transfer of the licence prior to the establishment and operation of the new outlet.

Mayo County Council has issued its decision – the application has been refused.
