Castlebar Town continue to roll in women's leagues

CASTLEBAR Town remain joint top with Manulla after a nine goal epic in Mount Falcon against Conn Rangers.

Castlebar Town took the lead through a penalty from skipper Chloe Morley. They doubled their advantage before the break through the pacy Belinda Patterson as she got on the end of a through ball by Kirsten Sheeran and found the bottom corner of the net with a cool finish.

Leah McHugh pulled one back for Conn with a long range finish. Conn would take the lead through Abbie Traynor and another Leah McHugh strike. But Castlebar showed why they are so highly regarded as they regained the lead once more.

Patterson turned creator this time to deliver a square ball to Melissa Devaney to tap home to equalise before a stunning free-kick from 45 yards by substitute Erina Flannery put Castlebar ahead.

They bagged their fifth goal, and the three points, through Anna Tuohy. Conn grabbed a late consolation through Leah mcHugh who completed her hat trick with another long-range strike.

Manulla lead Castlebar on goal difference thanks to a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Kiltimagh Knock United in Carramore on Monday night thanks to a brace each from Aoife Brennan, Tracy Hall and Jessica Nolan. The sole reply from Kiltimagh Knock was scored by Olivia Barrett.

UNDER-19 LEAGUE

Castlebar Town went five points clear at the top of the table with victory over Snugboro Utd in Edward Conway Memorial Park.

Despite the tough conditions, Castlebar took the lead after three minutes through Shauna Bolger and she was on hand to double her sides lead before the break. Ava Keane seemed to put the result beyond all doubt for the visitors but a brace from Aisling Reilly brought Snugboro back into the contest. Snugboro continued to push for an equaliser, but three minutes before the end, Louise Dowling secured the three points for the league leaders.

Elsewhere, a sole strike from Sarah Harper was enough for Westport United to see off Swinford and Kiltimagh Knock United and Conn Rangers had to settle for a share of the spoils in an eight-goal thriller CMS Park after a stunning 25-yard free kick from Kiltimagh Knock's Lauren McLellan deep into stoppage time.
