Mural of US presidential candidate unveiled in Mayo town

A mural depicting US presidential election candidate Joe Biden has been unveiled in Ballina this evening.

The painting is the work of local artists Padraig 'Smiler' Mitchell and Leslie Lackey.

Mr. Biden's great, great, great grandfather, Edward Blewitt, emigrated to the US from Ballina over 160 years ago.

The mural has been erected on Market Square, close to the old Blewitt home place on Garden Street.

It is hoped Mr. Biden will be able to return to see the painting after November’s presidential election.
