Irish Water and MCC working to restore water to customers in Shrule

Irish Water and Mayo County Council wish to advise customers in Shrule village and surrounding areas that their water supply has been impacted as a result of a number of bursts to a water main.

Three bursts to the rising main feeding Shrule reservoir have been fixed since yesterday. However, water is still not getting into the reservoir and crews are continuing to search for another burst, which is proving difficult.

It is hoped that the remaining burst will be located and repaired by midday tomorrow (Sunday) but some customers may not receive a full water supply for a further two to three hours while water returns to the network.

An alternative drinking water supply is available in the village. Anyone taking water from the tanker is advised to bring their own containers and to boil the water before use as a precaution. Customers are also asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines when at the tanker.

The Irish Water customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also make contact on Twitter (@IWCare) with any queries. For updates, see the water supply and services section of the Irish Water website at www.water.ie.
