Eight confirmed Covid case in care at Mayo hospital

Eight confirmed Covid-19 cases are in care at Mayo University Hospital today.

That's according to statistics recorded by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday.

The figure represents an increase of two in 24 hours.

There are no suspected cases and the intensive care unit at the centre remains Covid-free.

The Castlebar facility has 13 vacant general beds, a rise of 10 in 24 hours, and one vacant critical care bed, an decrease of two.

Nationally, there are 262 confirmed cases in Irish hospitals, a jump of 13, and 94 suspected cases, down by 16.

There are 30 Covid-19 patients in intensive care units.

The Cabinet will meet tomorrow to make a decision on NPHET's recommendation that the entire country be moved to Level 5 restrictions.
