Mayo college teams up with local cinema to deliver classes

A college in Mayo is working with a local cinema to deliver classes to its students.

Westport College of Further Education teamed with The W Cinema the town to provide 74 hours of classes in each of their three screens.

A statement on the college's Twitter account explained: "A total of 74 teaching hours per week, which would otherwise be online, are now taking place at the venue, which has become a comfortable, warm and welcoming place for some of students and staff alike.

"The W Cinema boasts some beautifully socially distanced spaces for students to work at, see their classmates and enjoy refreshments in a safe and healthy environment.

"This social aspect is so important now more than ever in terms of the wellbeing of our students and staff.

"We look forward to working with the management and staff of The W Cinema for as long as public health guidelines allows us to, as we continually strive to enhance the learning experiences of our students."
