Once Storm Aiden passes, weather linked to remnants of ex-hurricane zeta to hit Ireland

In the aftermath of today's wet and windy conditions, further spells of wet and windy weather will occur through the rest of the weekend and into Monday morning.

That's according to Liz Walsh, meteorologist, Met. Eireann.

She observed that more wet and windy weather will arrive Saturday evening/night in association with the remnants of ex-hurricane zeta - with rain spreading from the southwest and gales developing in coastal areas overnight.

"As we head through Sunday further wet weather looks set to move in from the Atlantic. A spell of strong winds is also possible for southern counties on Sunday night, but there is still some uncertainty as to how this will play out.

"Further rain and wind warnings are possible through the weekend, so stay up to date with the forecast," she explained.
