Enjoy Christmas classics at Westport drive-in cinema

FASTEN your seatbelts, bring the popcorn, grab the family and get ready to be entertained for an unbelievable festive line-up.

Classic Drive in Cinema is bringing some Christmas classics to the big screen at Westport Rugby Club on Thursday, December 10, with an American 1950s drive-in experience.

The Christmas movie line-up is kicking off with The Santa Clause starring Tim Allen at 6.30 p.m. followed by Home Alone starring Macaulay Culkin at 9.15 p.m.

Freshly made popcorn, nachos and pick & mix sweets can be pre-ordered online with your ticket from Ticketweb. One ticket covers everyone in your car.

Tickets from €27.50 plus booking fees per car are on sale today Tuesday (November 10) at 7 p.m. from https://www.ticketweb.ie/ or from Westport RFC.

Due to the current restrictions surrounding Covid-19, a lot of traditional Christmas events and experiences that have ran in the past may not be able to operate this year. This event is Covid-friendly as you arrive in your car, stay in and leave in your car. It makes for the perfect family night out and date night - you can even bring the dog!

After a very tough and difficult year for a lot of people, the mission is to bring the magic of Christmas into people’s lives this festive season while also acting as a fundraiser for the club.

To show thanks and appreciation for the hard work from our frontline heroes, the organisers are offering them some complimentary tickets for this event. Tickets are limited and need to be requested in advance as capacity is limited.

The Santa Clause

Tim Allen makes an impressive screen debut in Disney's well-written seasonal film The Santa Clause.

Divorced toy company executive Scott Calvin is pleased to have his son Charlie for Christmas, though the boy himself isn't happy about it. But when Santa Claus accidentally topples off the roof of the house and falls with a thud in the snow, Scott finds himself taking the merry old elf's place and earning new respect in his son's eyes.

When the night ends, the reindeer take them to the North Pole, and Scott discovers that by donning the fabled red suit, he's inadvertently agreed to become the next Santa Claus. The next morning he wakes up in his own bed and thinks it's all a dream - but Charlie remembers it with crystal clarity.

Scott now has to deal with his suspicious ex-wife (Wendy Crewson) and her psychiatrist boyfriend (Judge Reinhold), who both think he's playing tricks with Charlie's mind, and also with his own out-of-control body, which is putting on weight and growing a prodigious beard.

Home Alone

Eight-year-old Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) has become the man of the

house, overnight! Accidentally left behind when his family rushes off on a Christmas

vacation, Kevin gets busy decorating the house for the holidays. But he's not decking

the halls with tinsel and holly.

Two bumbling burglars are trying to break in, and

Kevin's rigging a bewildering battery of booby traps to welcome them!
