Hopes that Mayo Christmas favourite may still go ahead

PEOPLE have their fingers crossed that one Christmas favourite may still go ahead this year.

The big Christmas lights tractor parade in Ballinrobe is 'on hold' at the moment but the organisers are hoping it might yet go ahead as Covid restrictions ease.

On its social media yesterday, the following update was given: ''We would normally be getting geared up for the tractor parade at this time of year but as you all know it’s hard to organise anything at the moment.

'The latest on this year's parade is firstly we wait and see restriction rules as decided by government over next few days. Then, if this allows us to go ahead I will contact the gardai as they will have the final say.

'If we then get the go ahead we will not be able to run the parade like other years due to crowds gathering. It will be a lot closer to Christmas (maybe weekend before).

'Please bear with us while we try and make a parade happen in some shape or form.

'From some of the messages we have been receiving over the past few weeks it seems it wouldn’t be Christmas without the Ballinrobe Christmas lights tractor parade.

'I’ll keep you posted. Richard. We will do our best to make this happen.'
