Sod-turning for new Burrishoole Community Centre

THE ceremonial sod-turning for the Burrishoole Community Centre will take place this afternoon (Friday).

Deputy Michael Ring will be on hand to perform the sod-turning at 3 p.m.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the event has been deferred to this date although considerable ground works has taken place on the site of the new hall. The event will be held in full compliance with Covid restrictions, with social distancing and the wearing of face masks.

The development of this much needed facility in the Burrishoole community has been sought for the last 10 years since planning efforts started - and is now coming to fruition.

Contractor MP Cooney's started work on the site in early November and they expect to have the building completed within 12 months.

This is the first phase of the overall community centre comprising the main hall. It includes foundations for the remaining parts of the building, which will be phase two of the project.
