Dessie Farrell names Dublin team for All-Ireland final

Dublin manager Dessie Farrell has named his team for tomorrow’s All-Ireland senior football championship final against Mayo at Croke Park.

The side is unchanged from that which started in the All-Ireland semi-final win over Cavan a fortnight ago.

Jonny Cooper was a late addition to the team for that game and keeps his place in the starting line-up for the decider.

The Dublin team in full is: Stephen Cluxton (Parnells); Michael Fitzsimons (Cuala), David Byrne (Naomh Olaf), Jonny Cooper (Na Fianna); Eoin Murchan (Na Fianna), John Small (Ballymun Kickhams), Robert McDaid (Ballyboden St. Enda's); Brian Fenton (Raheny), James McCarthy (Ballymun Kickhams); Niall Scully (Templeogue Synge Street), Ciaran Kilkenny (Castleknock), Seán Bugler (St. Oliver Plunkett’s/Eoghan Ruadh); Paddy Small (Ballymun Kickhams), Con O'Callaghan (Cuala), Dean Rock (Ballymun Kickhams).

Shaking

Diarmuid Connolly, the former Dublin star forward, believes anyone coming up against Brian Fenton in midfield will be 'shaking in their boots'.

He told BoyleSports’ Leon Blanche: “It’s a very strong Mayo midfield but an inexperienced one for me. Anyone coming up against Brian Fenton will be shaking in their boots coming into their first All-Ireland final. Matthew Ruane will probably pick him up unless they start one of their old stalwarts to rough him up a bit.”

Connolly described Fenton's performance against Cavan in the semi-final as 'phenomenal'.

He continued: “He is probably one of Dublin’s best all-time players, especially in the middle of the field. Unless Mayo get this one right and don’t double team him or even triple team him and curtail his influence, then they could be in for a long day.”

The game throws in at 5 p.m. tomorrow afternoon and can be seen live on RTÉ 2 and Sky Sports Mix.
