Move for Mayo Camogie in the new year

Mayo Camogie are encouraging everyone to get active in January 2021 by moving for 2,021 seconds each day or as often as you can – it's just under 34 minutes!

Run, walk, cycle, swim, jog, skip, play games, practice skills – whatever you want to do! The important thing is to get moving.

Support the #Move4MayoCamogie campaign on iDonate (www.idonate.ie/move4mayocamogie2021) or ask for sponsors to donate to the campaign.

You don’t have to be a player or even connected to a club to get involved as this initiative is for everyone.

With four active camogie clubs in Mayo and county teams from Under 14 up to adult level, it's a growing sport. With this campaign, Mayo Camogie are hoping to raise funds to not only support club and county players to grow and develop, but also to support the great work of a charity that's important to all of us.

Fifteen per cent of all monies raised through the #Move4MayoCamogie campaign will be given to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute.

Commenting on the campaign, Rosemary Smith, chairperson of Mayo Camogie County Board, said: “We are very pleased to be launching #Move4MayoCamogie and hope lots of people get involved. At Mayo Camogie, we are very committed to all our club and county camogie players and are keen that they be able to develop both their skills and experiences of the game. In order to progress and nurture this development, we need to have adequate funding.

“Camogie is one of our national sports and a fantastic game for fitness, team work and fun. We hope to introduce lots more girls all across the county to the game in 2021 and beyond. We look forward to seeing everyone’s activity for #Move4MayoCamogie and raising lots of money to support both our Mayo Camogie girls and the National Breast Cancer Research Insititute’s great work.”
