Small rise in confirmed Covid cases at MUH

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care today at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has increased by one to 51.

It's now the seventh highest hospital statistic in the country behind the Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, with 83, Cork University Hospital 78, Galway University Hospital 67, St. Vincent's Hospital 64, University Hospital Limerick 60 and the Meter Hospital 52.

The latest figures, recorded at the Castlebar centre by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday, revealed three of the cases were confirmed in the previous 24 hours.

There are two suspected cases in the hospital, down by two, and the facility's ICU stays virus free.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases has increased by 103 to 873. There are also 160 suspected cases hospitalised.

The number of patients in intensive care units has risen by three to 75.

There are three vacant general bed at MUH, up by two, and one vacant critical care beds, down by one.

A total of 99 new confirmed cases in Mayo were revealed by the Health Protection Surveillance yesterday evening to bring the county's total to 952 for the past two weeks.

It leaves Mayo with a 14-day incidence rate of 729.5 - above the national average of 674.4
