Plans for four-house development at prime Castlebar site
A FORMER builder's yard at Riverside, Newtown, Castlebar, is to be transformed into a housing development.
A planning application is being lodged by Declan McGrath to construct four two-storey, two bedroom townhouses on a site he acquired from the McHugh family.
The project will involve the demolition of a storage yard built many years ago by the late Tom McHugh, building contractor.
The development is expected to greatly enhance the location between Marian Row and Newtown as well as significantly improving the streetscape with the removal of an extensive wall.
The scheme has been designed by Grady Carr Architects, Altamount Street, Westport, and can be viewed at the planning offices of Mayo County Council.
A decision on the application will be made by the authoirty over the coming weeks.
Mr. McGrath acquired the site last year when it was placed on the market.
The site notice for the proposed development was erected on December 22.
