Fall in Covid numbers at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has dropped by 11 to 81 in the past 24 hours, according to the latest report compiled by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the 12th highest in the country, the list headed by Cork University Hospital with 140, down by 18.

Galway University Hospital has 116 positive cases in care, down by four.

No new cases were admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on January 21.

There are no suspected cases at the centre and two confirmed case are in the facility's ICU, down by two.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 1,846, a decrease of 77.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally has risen by four to 215.

There are two vacant general beds at MUH, down by 22, and no vacant critical care beds, down by two.
