Calleary announces update on IDA site in Mayo

Ballina-based Deputy Dara Calleary has revealed the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar, has confirmed that IDA Ireland has appointed an engineering firm to undertake detailed technical due diligence, review the master plan design and submit a Stage 1 Infrastructure Planning application for their site in Ballina.

It is anticipated that the application will be ready for submission in the third quarter of this year, Deputy Calleary said.

The site, located on the Sligo Road, is 10.6 hectares in area and has been concept master planned by IDA Ireland in order to demonstrate its potential to investors.

Said Deputy Calleary: “I am in regular contact with IDA Ireland in relation to this project and I have requested that this new planning application reflects the current and anticipates the future business and industry needs so that the best and most modern practice is in place at the site.

“I expect IDA Ireland to meet their commitment in terms of submitting the application in Q3 and I will be imploring Mayo County Council to act swiftly and decisively once they receive the plan.”
