Rise in positive Covid statistics at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has risen by seven to 62 in the past 24 hours, according to the latest report compiled by the HSE at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are now the 12th highest in the country, the list headed by University Hospital Waterford 98.

Galway University Hospital has 51 positive cases in care, a fall of 12.

One new case was admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on January 31.

There are 10 suspected cases at the centre, up by one, and three confirmed cases are in the facility's ICU, no change.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 1,396, an decrease of 135.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally has fallen by five to 204.

There is one vacant general bed at MUH, down by two, and no vacant critical care beds, a decease of one.

A total of 30 new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, bringing the total to 721 for the past two weeks.

It leaves the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 552.5 - the seventh highest in the country and above the national average of 478.7.
