Mayo singing star Chantelle dazzles on The Voice UK
Singing sensation Chantelle Padden is the toast of Mayo today.
It follows her dazzling performance on last night's ITV talent show, The Voice UK.
The 24-year-old Belmullet vocalist's wonderful version of 'When I Look at You' by Miley Cyrus during the blind auditions of the show captured the hearts of two of the four judges, Olly Murs and will.i.am.
Chantelle chose Olly Murs as her coach as she seeks to advance further in the television competition watched by millions of viewers on Saturday nights.
In a tweet, Olly Murs said: "People question why I don't press my button but this is WHY I WAIT. Great audition, great singer. Chantelle Padden is amazing."
In a response on her own twitter account this morning, Chantelle said: "I am so overwhelmed. Thank you so much everyone for all the love and support. And thank you so much Olly Murs."
Mayo TD Dara Calleary has issued a statement in which he described Chantelle's performance as 'truly sensational.'
He added: "Wishing you every success for the remainder of the series as a member of Olly Murs' team.
"You have raised the hearts of Irish and Mayo people all over world, no where more so than in your proud family, friends and neighbours in Erris.
"Absolutely delighted for you - good luck and thank you."
In a tweet, Erris-based Deputy Rose Conway Walsh said about Chantelle: "Such a ray of sunshine, just what we need in Mayo right now. So proud."
