Further easing of Covid pressures at Mayo University Hospital

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has dropped by five to 53 in the past 24 hours.

That's according to the latest HSE report from the facility compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are the seventh highest in the country, the list headed by the St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 95.

Galway University Hospital has 28 positive cases in care, down by six, while Sligo University Hospital has 29, down by one.

Three new confirmed case was admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on February 8.

There are four suspected cases at the centre, down by three, and four confirmed cases are in the facility's ICU, a decrease of two, along with one suspected case.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 1,012, a decreased of 88.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 175, a rise of two.

There is one vacant general bed at MUH and no vacant critical care beds.

A total 14 new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, bringing the total to 458 for the past two weeks.

It leaves the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 350 - the seventh highest in the country and above the national average of 319.
