Slow reduction in Covid numbers at MUH is ongoing

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has dropped by two to 51 in the past 24 hours.

That's according to the latest HSE report from the facility compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are the eighth highest in the country, the list headed by the St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 90.

Galway University Hospital has 27 positive cases in care, down by one, while Sligo University Hospital has 24, down by five.

No new confirmed case was admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on February 9.

There are three suspected cases at the centre, down by one, and three confirmed cases are in the facility's ICU, a decrease of one, along with one suspected case.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 990, a decrease of 33.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 167, a fall of eight.

There are no vacant general beds or critical care beds at MUH.

A total eight new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, bringing the total to 439 for the past two weeks.

It leaves the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 336.4 - the seventh highest in the country and above the national average of 312.1.
