Rise in positive Covid cases at MUH for second consecutive day

The number of confirmed Covid cases in care at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has increased by three to 55 in the past 24 hours.

That's according to the latest HSE report from the facility compiled at 8 p.m. yesterday.

MUH's virus figures are the sixth highest in the country, the list headed by the St. James's Hospital, Dublin, with 95.

Galway University Hospital has 30 positive cases in care, down by two, while Sligo University Hospital has 19, down by three.

Six new confirmed case were admitted to the Castlebar facility between 8 p.m. yesterday and 8 p.m. on February 11.

There are three suspected cases at the centre and three confirmed cases are in the facility's ICU, along with one suspected case - no change.

Nationally, the number of hospitalised confirmed cases now stands at 894, a decrease of 49.

The number of patients in intensive care units nationally is 169, a rise of two.

There are two vacant general beds and no critical care beds at MUH.

A total 10 new confirmed cases were identified in Mayo by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre yesterday evening, bringing the total to 375 for the past two weeks.

It leaves the county with a 14-day incidence rate of 287.3 - the 12th highest in the country and below the national average of 292.8.
