An announcement is imminent on the appointment of the new chief executive of Mayo County Council.

The Connaught Telegraph understands the interviewing process involving the shortlisted candidates has been completed.

The name of the successful applicant is due to be revealed shortly.

There was much speculation in regard to the matter over the weekend.

However, official confirmation is still awaited.

The post has been filled on an interim basis by Peter Duggan since the retirement of Peter Hynes on March 11, 2020.
