Questions raised by Mayo councillor over HSE vacancy and recruitment decisions

An elected Mayo member of the HSE West Forum is seeking a detailed report on the process involved in deciding on vacancies that arise in the Saolta Hospitals Group and the recruitment and hiring of staff for all health care positions.

Councillor Michael Kilcoyne has submitted the question ahead of next Tuesday's meeting of the forum.

He explained: "Essentially what I am seeking to ascertain is how are vacancies identified, who signs off on them, how advertising and recruiting is done and precisely what is the process involved in having a person actually begin working.

"Who has the final say on whether or not a vacancy will be filled?”

In another question, Councillor Kilcoyne is asking how are Home Help hours determined?

He said: "What is the criteria used? Who is involved in making the decision?

"How many Home Help Hours have been granted this year and how many last year?

"How many requests have been refused/ not filled this year and last year?”
